NIFTY

* Nifty traded volatile and settled marginally higher, taking a breather after two days of advance.

* Tone was mixed on the sectoral front. IT and energy ended higher while realty and metal lost nearly a percent each.

* We expect Nifty to hold the 19,300- 19,500 zone. Utilize intermediate pause or a dip to create longs.

* Reached a critical level in the US markets. Fresh break may add more legs to the prevailing up move.

BANKNIFTY

* Banking also traded volatile in a range and ended on a flat note.

* Most constituents ended in the red. SBIN, Kotak Bank and HDFC Bank were among the top losers.

* Expect some consolidation after the recent surge. Overall bias would remain positive.

* Reiterate our preference for private banks and suggest maintaining selective approach in the PSU pack.
