Amid pomp and gaiety, nation bid a peaceful farewell to the elephant God on September 12. Thousands of devotees were seen waving flags on the streets across the country. The immersion of Ganesh idols was done with a mammoth procession in Mumbai amid tight security. Procession of Mumbai’s most popular ‘Lalbaugcha Raja’ was being taken out during rainfall. Meanwhile, the procession (‘Shobha yatra’) was also being taken out under heavy security in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. On the other side, a unique initiative was taken by people in Gujarat’s Vadodara to immerse idol of Lord Ganesh in an artificial water tank. The idol was immersed in an eco-friendly manner with rose petals and flowery decorations. Police have made additional security arrangements in view of Ganesh idol procession in several states.
