Navratna construction major NBCC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to execute a Rs 130 cr (USD 20 million) social housing project in Mauritius, as per the government release. The Ministry of Urban Development further said in a statement that, a MoU in this regard was signed in the presence of Minister of Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu and the visiting Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Housing and Lands Showkutally Soodhun.
As per the deal, NBCC will undertake construction of 700 duplex type houses with 50 sq.mt net floor area with 2 bedrooms , living and dining rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, and toilets each in 18 months in Dagotiere and Mare Tabac, the release added. Moreover, NBCC will also execute construction of new Supreme Court building at a cost of USD 33 million (Rs 220 cr) in Port Louis in 24 months.
In this regard, an agreement has been signed earlier this month, it said. The release further added that, Government of India (GoI) has sanctioned a grant of USD 353 million for execution of 5 projects in Mauritius including metro express project, new ENT hospital and supply of digital tablets to primary school children.
